Avoidance of latex in early years can significantly reduce the incidences of type I and type IV allergic reactions later in life.
There are many indications that contact with latex early during childhood significantly increases the risk of later developing a latex allergy later in life. In the worst case, consequences can be life threatening. Generally, however, such latex allergies usually lead to asthma and/or eczema.
